I've recently got the game (Need for Speed Most Wanted) but I've kept on having the same problem. Window Mode to Fullscreen mode. It simply can't get into fullscreen mode with all the steps I've done, as I described further down. The game doesn't itself allow me to put it either into fullscreen or window mode. Need for Speed Most Wanted (2005) Widescreen Fix. Supported exe version: Any Installation: Collaboration with Aero Download and extract the archive to the game.

If its an older game you are playing and you are running Windows 7 or Windows 8 it may not work, if you right click the .exe file and choose Properties and then Compatibility you can change this to run in Windows 98/ Windows 2000 etc. You can find more information on the Beginners Help page here
